Acolytes assist during worship, especially serving at the altar and in procession.
Members of the Altar Guild care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. They work closely with the clergy to prepare the sanctuary for services and clean up afterward. Altar Guild members also supervise the decoration of the sanctuary with flowers.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers
LEMs are trained and licensed to administer the consecrated bread and wine at any celebration of the Eucharist in the absence of a sufficient number of clergy to assist the celebrant. At St. Michael’s, LEMs generally serve as chalice bearers at each celebration of the Eucharist.
Lectors read the appointed lectionary readings from the lectern at worship services.
